The Firm, in recognition of the needs of its real estate clients, recently added the Real Property Tax Appeals Department. Through the attorneys in this Department, in conjunction with other attorneys in the Firm, we can provide representation for every step of the real estate ownership process.

Members of the Department have been involved in appeals ranging from informal negotiations with municipal assessors to multi-million dollar assessment appeals in the Tax Court of New Jersey.

The Department Members have experience in all types of real property tax appeals, from residential and commercial to property tax exemptions and farmland assessment denials. Members of the Department also have experience in appeals on special purpose properties, such as laboratories and assembly plants.

The Department Members have represented both taxpayers and municipalities, which allows them to provide unique insight into both sides of the tax appeal process.

The Real Property Tax Appeals Department is chaired by Frederick C. Raffetto, who has spent a large portion of his legal career concentrating in the area of real property tax matters. He has also represented various municipalities as special tax counsel, which experience adds further depth to the Department. Mr. Raffetto is a regular practitioner before the Tax Court of New Jersey and the County Boards of Taxation.

The Department is further supported by Rick Brodsky and Lawrence H. Shapiro, who bring their years of experience in the areas of real estate and litigation, respectively, to the Department.
